Neuromuscular Dentistry has been practiced for decades and continues to gain recognition within the
medical and dental professions. From the beginning, determining the optimal objective physiological rest
position of the jaw has been the key to alleviating chronic pain and other symptoms. The final piece of
this puzzle has been solved with recent advances in dental and medical technology that has made it
possible to make such a determination with greater ease and accuracy. We are able to establish the
proper
neuromuscular position of the jaw by the use of a TENS device to relax the muscles, and
employing modern technology such as computerized jaw tracking, electromyography, sonography,
and tomography. To stabilize this position we use highly effective orthotic therapy. This therapy is far
superior to traditional splint therapy, which sought to establish the correct bite by means of an artificially
manipulative positioning of the condyle instead of bringing the jaw and surrounding musculature into a
harmonious balance.

All of this is good news for patients suffering from Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD). No drugs, no surgery - only relief!

Before treatment or even screening begins we believe that the patient must be seen by their own physician for this problem. Further, we believe that effective communication and coordination of

Treatment with referring physicians is essential. The professional staff at the Center for Neuromuscular Dentistry has been specially trained at the L.V. Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, and use the latest equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of TMD.

If you have a patient who may be a candidate for neuromuscular therapy we would be happy to offer him or her a complimentary screening in our office. We would also be happy to answer any questions you might have about our practice.
